Google Announces New Devices

Its now fall and finally time for Google to announce the newest versions of its devices, more specifically a refreshed version of the Nexus line of phones.  Rumors floated around that Google would be releasing two versions of the Nexus line, one more premium than the other and one to fancy those who don’t want a phablet.  Its finally time to put those rumors to rest.

Nexus 6P

This version of the Nexus is the high end, premium upgrade to last years Nexus 6.  It will have a full aluminum body with chamfered edges, and improved dual stereo speakers.  They’ve opted for a slight smaller 5.7 inch AMOLED display with the same QHD resolution of 1440 by 2560 (518 ppi) covered by Gorilla Glass 4.  The 6P will have a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 chipset which is an octa core processor and 3gb of ram, this partnered with Android 6.0 “Marshmallow” should make the device run at the speed of light.  Google also introduced the new fingerprint sensor which is for added security and Android Pay.

The camera has a 12mp Sony sensor which is supposed to be better than the last Nexus camera due to the bigger pixel size.  Bigger pixel sizes mean more light will be let in during lower light photos.  Does this sound familiar?  Let me give you a hint: Ultra pixels.  It seems that Google is finally taking their photos more seriously, which is great!  To round off this already amazing device, we have an improved 3450 mAh battery which can take fast charging through its new USB-C port.  Yes, I did say fast charging and USB-C in the same sentence.  The phone is set to come out in three colors and sizes; Aluminum, Graphite, and Frost/ 32gb, 64gb, and 128gb.  It will begin at $499.

Nexus 5X

It seems that Google listened to its fans because they brought back the Nexus 5 in a new form.  Much like its older sibling, its a budget friendly device with updated specs.  It has the same soft touch body for better grip while holding the phone.  It has a 5.2 inch 1080p display covered by Gorilla Glass 3.  It will also have a Snapdragon 808 chipset which is a hexacore processor with 2gb of ram. If it runs anything like the LG G4, it should be smooth as butter.  To round off the phone, it has a 2700 mAh battery.  As for all the additional features, it is the same as the Nexus 6P (fingerprint, camera, USB-C).  This phone will come out with 3 colors and 2 size variants; Carbon, Quartz and Ice/ 16gb and 32gb.

Google Chromecast

I can’t vouch enough for how useful the Chromecast actually is, and here we are with an updated version of this product.  It comes with a new design shape so that its easier to carry around.  The built in magnetized HDMI port attaches to the back of the device so it doesn’t get in the way.  They also (finally) improved the hardware by supporting dual band 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi connections.  This will give you less buffering, less load times and a better overall experience.

The Chromecast Audio can turn any speaker into a wifi speaker.  What this means is that you can connect your Chromecast Audio to your speaker via the 3.5mm headphone jack and you can stream music directly to the speaker without having to connect directly to it.  Its brilliant if you ask me.  It will work with any pretty much all the apps that work with the Chromecast, which pretty much covers everything.

Pixel C

This came as a surprise considering its not a “Nexus” tablet.  The Pixel C is Google’s newest tablet that they have been working on and it very much looks to take the spot of your surface tablet.  It has a super powerful Nvidia Tegra X1 processor which is known to handle even the hardest tasks with ease.  There is also the optional keyboard which will virtually make the tablet a two in one and will also turn it into the little brother of the Chromebook Pixel.

The tablet will have a 10.2 inch display with a  2560 by 1800 resolution with a wide coverage of the sRGB color gamut.  It should be accurate, “true to life” colors that will be on the display. We will have to wait and see if we get our hands on it.  It is set to retail at $499 for the 32gb model and $599 for the 64gb model.

Google has a slew of new devices ready for this fall season and they all look very enticing.  Which one will you guys be getting?  Let us know in the comments below!
